Karl Velasco trained as an actor with Sydney Theatre Company and NIDA before making the switch to become an art director. In a career spanning more than 15 years he has worked as a senior creative for leading content agencies in Sydney and London. He has developed innovative marketing concepts, publications and digital content for a variety of high-profile clients across retail, interiors, fashion and luxury brands in Europe, the US, Asia and the Middle East.
Career highlights include a stint as Creative Director with Dazed Media, where Karl headed a team devising campaigns and multi-channel content for House of Fraser. Prior to that, Karl spent several years at John Brown Media where he worked with a diverse portfolio of clients from John Lewis and Heal's to Jamie Oliver, Aston Martin and the Walt Disney Company.
These days Karl works mainly as a freelancer, building on his versatile skill set and long-standing client relationships. With a solid grounding in print publishing, he now particularly enjoys working on digital projects and takes pride in his strategic vision and client-friendly approach.
